Why hire me

I've been building iOS apps since 2009 — back when you had to manually manage memory and UITableView was exciting. These days I pair that deep platform knowledge with agentic AI workflows (Claude, custom pipelines, offline models) that genuinely change how fast one person can ship.

This isn't "I use Copilot." I've spent the last year building custom AI development workflows. The result: I work more like a small team than a single contractor.

Rates & engagement

I'm upfront about pricing because life's too short for the "let's hop on a call to discuss rates" dance. Here's how we can work together:

Sprints

From €8,000

2-week sprint, fixed scope, defined deliverables. Good for features and MVPs.

Retainer

From €5,000/month

15–20 hrs/week, ongoing. Part developer, part technical co-founder. Best for startups that need embedded expertise.

Day Rate

€800/day

Flexible, minimum 3 days. Good for code audits, architecture reviews, or filling a gap.

All prices ex. BTW. Happy to chat through what makes sense for your situation — no commitment.

Alisdair Mills

The longer version

I got into software development in the early 2000s and never really stopped. When the iPhone SDK dropped in 2008, I dove in — and I've been deep in the Apple ecosystem ever since. 17 years of iOS, watchOS, tvOS, macOS. I've lost count of the Xcode betas.

Along the way I've built things for IKEA, Ford, McKinsey, Facebook, Lady Gaga (yes, really), and a bunch of startups. Most recently I worked on Pangea.inc, an EV discovery startup out of LA — and before that on NOWATCH here in Amsterdam — a health wearable tracking stress via your nervous system.

Right now I'm freelancing and obsessively building with AI. Not the "slap an LLM API on it" kind — I mean agentic coding workflows where Claude and custom pipelines handle the boilerplate while I focus on architecture and the hard problems. I also run local models via Ollama and LM Studio because sometimes you want inference without the internet.

Side project: Qija — an iOS music discovery app with AI-powered recommendations and a Swift backend. It's my playground for pushing what one developer can ship.
